The Good: When you have a few perfect blooms, nothing can be more glorious! Especially with the dinner plate variety! Dahlias are very beautiful and unique to look at. They work perfectly as a show-piece flower.
The Bad: Dahlias can be the pits to work with. They can look beautiful one day and horrible the next. They just tend to be very temperamental in general. They need their own separate container during the prep process, and they need to stay in a cool area. Typically, only 1-2 blooms are usable per bunch. Blooms typically grow facing sideways (not upward), so designing with them can be difficult. Soft, delicate petals with an extremely short vase life.
- Give the stems a fresh cut and place in cool water.
- Dahlia’s stems have a lot of bacteria and should be placed away from other blooms in only a few inches of water.
- Water should be changed daily.
- Best to have professional refrigeration, as Dahlias have a short vase life.

Flower Moxie reserves the right to make changes or substitutions. All substitutions are only done as a last resort, and only when the reasons for doing so are reasonable and genuine. For example, if a flower becomes unavailable (off-crop), incorrect color, or not in good condition to grace a wedding function we will substitute a flower that has a similar color and price-point.
Acceptable Subs: Ranunculus, Garden Roses, Peonies, or another higher-end type flower in similar color palette.
